It appears that this house was built around 1890 for investment purposes by Charles Nicholson. It remained rental property through several other owners before J. Marshall English and his wife Odessa purchased the home in July 1937. The English family actually rented the house for about five years prior to their purchase. Mr. English was manager of the Western & Southern Life Insurance Company.
