Listing Description:
This was built in a modern design in 1945 to house Engine No. 1. It replaced an earlier station - Washington Company No. 1 Hose Reel House, pictured below in 1892 - that also served as a police substation and community center. Washington began as a volunteer fire company, before the city moved to a paid firefighting force in 1865.
