Rowe-Garner House
922 East Spring Street
New Albany, IN 47150

Listing Description:
Built circa 1908, this bungalow replaced an earlier structure on the site. William Rowe, the original owner, was treasurer of Rowe-Fawcett Co., wholesale grocers, located at 128-130 West Main Street in downtown New Albany.

In the late 1920s, Henry Bensinger occupied the house. He was president and manager of Bensinger Furniture & Carpet Co., located at State and Market Streets also in downtown New Albany.

By 1930, the William H. Garner family had purchased the home and would continue occupying the property through the early 1980s. William H. was a physician, as were his son and grandson to follow. He was also the grandfather to James Garner, former mayor of New Albany.
