George W. Peevy House

Listing Description:
The early history of this home is unknown, but by June 1898 the structure was being used for investment purposes by local grocer, Michael Thornton. Mr. Thornton had his grocery and residence at 1502 East Spring Street.

In May 1915, George and Ella Peevy purchased the home from Michael and lived here until Mr. Peevy's death in March 1937. At the time of George's death at age 66, he was a foreman at the plant of Turner Day & Woolworth Handle Company in Louisville. The Peevys were members of Park Christian Church.
