Holy Trinity, the first Catholic parish in New Albany, was established in 1836. A year later a school was started, taught by the Sisters of Providence. The existing school building was constructed in 1883, although the front bell tower was dismantled and present entrance added at a later date. The postcard below, from the collection of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library's Indiana Room, shows the Holy Trinity campus prior to the 1975 fire that destroyed the church.
