This Italianate cottage was built circa 1890, and purchased in 1900 by the Kammerer family for $1800. It later became home to newlyweds James and Minnie Foreman. Mrs. Foreman was the daughter of Nannie Kammerer, president of the Conrad-Kammerer Glue Co. where Mr. Foreman worked as secretary.

In 1927, John and Ella Black purchased the property. Mr. Black was a freight agent for forty years for the Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville Railroad, later known as the Monon.

The home was recognized in 2021 with a 'Facelift Award' for its preservation and sensitive rehabilitation.
