This building, with two storefronts, was constructed in 1880 in the Italianate style. The south storefront was first used as a barber shop until Michael Moley, a fashionable tailor and importer, located here in the mid-1880s.

The north storefront originally housed a saloon before Mr. Dieckman moved his barber shop here from the other half of the building. Mr. Dieckman remained here until the 1890s, when T.B. Sanders opened the Buffalo Dental Parlor: The Painless Dentist out of this location. From about 1910 to 1922, the building housed the offices of the Finger Bros. P & K Coal Company.

By the late 1930s, Cohn Shoes was established in the 221 Pearl Street side of the building, and in the ealry 1940s Ray's Jewelry Store began its long tenure at 225 Pearl. Ray's later became Zemon Jewelers, remaining here until the early 1980s. Cohn's continued in operation here until 2000. The upper floor has been rehabilitated as apartments.
