John Meyer, a native of Germany, was the owner of the Paul Reising Brewery Co., located on West Spring Street in downtown New Albany. He and his wife, Minnie, bought this property in 1899 and lived in an earlier home that was located here. They vacated that structure in 1911 and lived with relatives until their new home was completed in 1913. The home has a bungalow form with Free Classic ornament.
