Charles A. Reineking House

Listing Description:
Records indicate that Charles Reineking purchased this lot in 1851, and his family was occupying the house as early as 1859. Mr. Reineking had a retail staples and fancy dry goods business on East Main Street in downtown New Albany. He later was involved in the insurance business. The house stayed in the Reineking family for over forty years. For the next 25 years, it appears that the structure was used as rental property. Through the 1920s, the Homer Blake family lived here. Mr. Blake was a laborer for the Ohio Falls Iron Company. The photo below shows the home around 1973.
