This lot was purchased by Herbert S. Fawcett in January 1904 for $800 and the house was built immediately thereafter.  Mr. Fawcett was a clerk for the L & N Railroad.  He died in September 1953, in the house, at the age of 81 years following a long illness.  His widow, Emma E., remained in the home until her death in November 1961, ending over almost 60 years of residency by the Fawcett family.  Both were members of Hutchinson Memorial Presbyterian Church, now know as St. John’s Presbyterian.
