This modern building - designed by The Estopinal Group of Jeffersonville - complements its historic surroundings although unmistakably new. The neon sign ties into other new and historic neon found in the immediate vicinity. The activity generated by the YMCA has played a major role in the revitalization of downtown New Albany.

The site was once home to the offices of the New Albany Hosiery Mill, seen in the c.1880 photo below. The interior is a 1883 view of the knitting room of the mill, which was located on Vincennes Street.
