George and Anna Kraft House
323 East 9th Street
New Albany, IN 47150

Listing Description:
Anna Kistner was the first to purchase one of the vacant lots on the west side of East Ninth Street, in 1902, and had her Queen Anne-style home built soon after. The property had previously been part of the James Brooks estate, which encompassed the half-block between Spring, East Ninth, Market and the alley. The carriage house behind 323 East Ninth is original to the Brooks home, still standing at 815 East Market Street. On April 24, 1907, Anna Kistner married George A. Kraft at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Kraft was assoicated with Frank A. Kraft Undertakers, later to be known as George A. Kraft Funeral Home, with George as president of the company. The photo below shows the house in 1975.
