Burk-Nickel House 903 East Main Street New Albany, IN 47150

Insurance agent Robert Burk purchased this lot - as well as the adjacent lot to the west - in January 1893, and had this house built soon after. He and his family lived in this home before building the house at 901 East Main in 1900, and moving there.
The 1977 photos below, from the collection of the Indiana Room at the New Albany-Floyd County public library, show the home in its original configuration, with the front door and a single window on the south elevation. The original decorative vergeboard or 'gingerbread' was also still present at this time.
