This lot was purchased in July 1903 by Mr. Zink for $1,460 and he and his wife Cora had their Queen Anne style home built immediately. By the time the 1905 New Albany City Directory was printed, it lists the Zinks as living here.
Mr. Zink was associated with the furniture company of Laub-Zink. Mr. Laub, who lived at 321 East Ninth Street, had established a furniture store on State Street in downtown New Albany in 1891. By the time of his retirement in 1911, the business was reorganized and incorporated under the name Laub-Zink Furniture Co. The Company was managed by Charles, and along with his brother John, it became one of the most popular and successful in Southern Indiana, selling "Made in New Albany" items, such as mattresses, appliances, bedroom suits, sideboards, parlor suites and kitchen cabinets.
