Built as early as 1840, this building was a saloon from the outset. It later was home to Lewis Hammond's 'Yankee Doodle' store, the interior of which is seen below in a photo from about 1917.

One exterior photo below, from the collection of the Indiana Room of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library, shows this building circa 1965, with many of its historic features still exposed. It was subsequently heavily altered, with many of its historic features and the upper story encased in vinyl.

Developer and contractor Steve Resch purchased the building in 2017. It was in very poor condition structurally, requiring almost complete reconstruction. Many of the missing or damaged exterior features were able to be recreated using historic photos. The project earned a 2018 'Facelift Award' from the New Albany Historic Preservation Commission for the dramatic transformation.
